This position is a part of the FP&A group and will work cross functionally across various areas of Macy’ to act as a point of contact for capital modeling and financial analysis. This position will also be responsible for planning, analyzing and producing recommendations regarding SG&A expenses. This position will be privy to highly sensitive information and requires a high level of professional maturity and discretion. Perform other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:

Financial Modeling

  • Work cross functionally across Finance, Accounting, Technology, Analytics, Product, Logistics and Strategy to build modeling tools, analyze financial data and create financial models for decision support
  • Build ROI projections and tracking models to measure revenue against estimates on an ongoing and ad hoc basis
  • Develop templates that can be used to increase efficiency o Assist in strategic planning process regarding ROI tracking methodologies and help to develop new approaches to financial analysis and reporting when necessary
  • Help guide Financial Analysts in modeling techniques and approaches
  • Provide reporting and data for post project evaluation that inpoints key deliverables with capital investment (ROI, Sales, Traffic, etc) and provides insights to projects (Hind-sighting)
  • Present financial models to leadership with the ability to tailor to audience (financial vs layman’s terms)
  • Assist with Capital Administration tasks when necessary including budget approval (PPM system), impairment reviews and assisting with internal audits

Financial Planning 

  • Participate in the forecasting and planning activities for various SG&A expenses
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts o Maintain and publish various financial reports including KPIs and dashboards (while ensuring integrity and consistency of data)
  • Prepare, present and submit monthly Forecasts (ROF) and annual plans

• Take on additional responsibilities or projects based on the needs of a growing organization

• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality




  • Degree in Finance or Business or related field, MBA a plus
  • 3 + years Financial Modeling Experience or 3+ years of analytics or consulting experience – ecommerce a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Accounting
  • Proficient in Excel, with ability to demonstrate utilization and creation of formulas, pivot tables and basic macros
  • SQL a plus
  • Prior retail experience is a plus

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must be able to work independently but under minimal supervision

Other skills:

  • Analytical Skills – Aptitude to synthesize and compile diverse information, collect and research data, uses intuition and experience to complement data, design work flows and procedures
  • Problem Solving – Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternate solutions, works well in group problem solving situations
  • Organizational Skills – Propensity to use time and resources effectively, detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and plan for future projects
  • Team Player – Reliable, flexible and actively participates to the success of the team

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment. May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Work Hours:

  •  Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
