Be part of an innovative team that has a direct impact on nearly every aspect of the Macy’s experience – our Compute & Operations team partners with our corporate team to bring initiatives, strategies, ideas, and innovations to life through the art and science of retail management in our more than 650 stores. This role leads the Infrastructure team in the selection of Cloud Strategy, Infrastructure Architecture and Automation, and guides application development teams regarding infrastructure design and automated infrastructure services. This position will create cloud roadmaps and lead the vision for multiple infrastructure domains including servers, storage, virtualization and messaging, and coaches Compute & Operations and Development teams to improve stability and performance of Macy’s Tech systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
 
• Collaborates with all business partners to gain consensus on solutions and recommendations.
• Lead role in determining our enterprise Cloud Strategy (determining cloud and cloud partners).
• Directs system performance analysis, tuning and capacity planning efforts across the enterprise.
• Provides a service to the application teams regarding automation of infrastructure services.
• Coaches Compute & Operations and Development teams to improve stability and performance of Macy’s Tech systems.
• Stays abreast of emerging technologies and acts as an advisor to management teams.
• Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.

• Directs enterprise-wide large scale projects of significant scale and impact. 
• Requires strategic thinking of all tools & technologies in market to provide best user experience.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in a Technology related field. 
• 10+ years of experience working in an IT Infrastructure environment.
• Hands on experience with multiple cloud technologies with strong understanding of multiple cloud capabilities and limitations.
• Prior experience in implementation of a hybrid cloud virtual data center utilizing both private and public clouds.
• 5+ years of experience in application development.
• 10+ years of experience in operations and operations support.
• Experience with the ITIL operations framework; experience creating a new organization.
• Experience defining the vision and building the plan to implement a significant new function.
• Experience in orchestration, automation and optimization of servers, storage, networks, high-availability, backup and disaster recovery.
• Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting, experience with emerging technologies such as Containers/Docker and Micro-Services a plus.

Physical Demands:
 
• This position involves regular ambulating, sitting, hearing, and talking.

• Involves use of hands and fingers for typing on keyboard and using a mouse. 
• May be a need to move or lift items under 10 pound.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Must have strong skills to persuade and influence teams to adapt/change techniques and drive Infrastructure technology strategy for 2-3 years in the future.
• Work closely with all IT teams to form a collaborative partnership that is decisive and gets things done.
• Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure, including Cloud Computing, hardware, software, networks, database, eCommerce and applications
• Advanced knowledge of system software (Windows, multiple versions of UNIX, Linux,  .COM, and IBM mainframe)
• Advanced knowledge of operations management support tools
• Advanced knowledge of middleware (MQ series, Tibco, Golden Gate and other synchronous and asynchronous middleware)
• Intermediate knowledge of application architecture
• Intermediate knowledge of technical security and infrastructure security software.
